Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. McAlpine!

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

What an awesome opportunity to be invited to Lauren & Randy’s wedding.  You made me feel like part of the family as your photographer.  I just say “Wow!”  The weather was phenomenal, your families and guests were inspiring to work with, and the party afterwards was amazing.  The Confidentials, as always, brought all to the dance floor.

Lauren and Randy, I can see through my eyes the love you share is very real and strong. In  my career, I have been blessed to witness many weddings.

However, I must say yours brought special meaning to me.  I enjoyed meeting your relative from Rome and the special certificate blessing your marriage by the Pope was something I have never witnessed before.

The images have been made, now comes the fun in designing your album.  I hope you will take this time to reflect on your favorites that you want to see for your finished memories.  I know there were many favorites for me, and I’m having a tough time editing over 1500 images from the day!  Whew!!

Please enjoy this preliminary viewing of what I believe are real keepers!

Savanna…You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby!

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

As the person responsible for placing orders here at ABE, I get the pleasure to kick back, put on some great music and look at all the beautiful images my husband makes.  Of course, these images are beautiful because of the people who are in front of the camera.  Savanna recently visited our studio with her mom and dad, Teresa and Keith.  You have to agree with me, she is going to break some hearts about 16 years from now! Teresa and Keith, congratulations on the new addition to your family.  I enjoyed the pictures…she is sooooo cute!!!!  I wish I could have been here to meet her personally.  Enjoy this blessing in your life.  And remember, it’s very true, they grow up so very quickly.  Before you know it they will be asking for the keys to your car. Cherish this time in your lives!  God bless you on this blessed arrival!

Natalie Cole

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Last October, I received a call from the Omaha Symphony asking if I would be interested in photographing Natalie Cole.  Ms. Cole is perhaps one of the most beautiful and gifted singers I have had the privilege to hear. My son, Steven, and I accepted the invitation and enjoyed not only the beautiful music of Ms. Cole, but we especially enjoyed her rendition of “Unforgettable” which she performed as a duet with her father, Nat King Cole, thanks to the magic of technology.  This will be one of my fondest memories in my profession to meet Ms. Cole, photograph this beautiful woman, and have the honor to hear her sing.

Dennis DeYoung & Omaha Symphony

As a professional photographer, I am often called upon by professional organizations to photograph those special occasions that need preserving in a picture.  Imagine my surprise last week when I was called by the Omaha Symphony to come and photograph a concert on Saturday night.  I thought to myself, well I can go after the wedding and take a few minutes to photograph the featured artist.  I entered the Performing Arts Center unassuming who I would be photographing.  To my surprise it was Dennis DeYoung of Styx fame. People, you need to know something about me…I am a huge Styx fan from days past.  So when I started shooting images I was totally in awe of Mr. DeYoung’s singing voice I had to sit down for the remainder of the concert and take in his melodic interpretation of songs I remember from the 80’s!  The only problem about this was I forgot to call my wife, Joan, who is even a bigger Styx fan than I am.  I sat there with an extra ticket not even thinking to call her to come and join me for what I would consider one of the better concerts I have had the opportunity to attend.  Next time…I will be sure to call Joan.  I’m sure she won’t let me forget this for some time to come.

Liz is graduating this weekend!  Congratulations, Liz, on this great achievement!  We are all so proud of you!  I had the pleasure to photograph my cousin’s daughter for her senior picture.  It’s truly a blessing when your family comes to you and asks you to create special memories of their children!  Growing up with my cousin, Chris, brings back lots of good memories of fun times spent together.  As a matter of fact, he is a Harley rider and and I’m hoping to have my bike before the end of this year.  So…more good times to come in the future.

Please enjoy Liz’s images.  She is a beautiful young lady and it was a nice time spent with her during her photo session.  I pray her future will be bright as she moves on in her higher education!  God Bless you, Liz, Chris and Paula on this milestone!
