Color abounds Rose and Justin’s wedding at the state park

Such an awesome day full of color abounds Rose and Justin’s wedding day at the state park. You couldn’t time it better, how fall decided to bless this couple with a perfect day full of color and smells that speak love. I have missed this amazing place all my life and now want to move there. I ask that you consider your wedding at a state park in the fall. There is nothing like it.

Rose and Justin had planned their country theme from the beginning, from lodging to relax time with the families. At any given wedding, I like to photograph all the details that have been thought of over the past year. It’s truly something that has meaning and couldn’t resist the cowboy boots adorned with warm pink and blue stripes on Rose’s socks.

Even though it was a day of coverage, I believe the minute of their reveal felt like time stood still. Standing above the lake on the dock, their arms held each other in a warm embrace.  It all came at once, their eyes meeting put a shiver deep in my spirit and I couldn’t stop recording these two.

The rest of the day was a hoot with their playful wedding party. It was all fun and funny and romantic all at once. From the teeter totter to the swings to the old bench overlooking the lake. The next time I have the pleasure to photograph at Platte River State Park, we will be sure to rent paddle boats for the wedding party that enjoys adventure.

If you know of someone deeply in love and enjoys time together, wherever, please have them call us for a consult filled with ideas and locations to explore for their wedding event or engagement session. I’m always looking to raise the standards of my photography for the different and inspirational moments.

Lauren and Brian’s Phenomenal Wedding takes a side step to the Poop Deck

Lauren and Brian’s phenomenal wedding takes a side step to the Poop Deck.  Yes, happiness prevailed on this phenomenal wedding day. I’m not sure where Brian was earlier in the day but Lauren began a very light and easy going day at with her ladies, getting real pretty at the Field Club. I love the old world feel upon entry and so happy we could return following their ceremony. If Frank Sinatra was alive, I know he would hang out there. The something blue had to be the skies. It was so beautiful in Nebraska, a Phenomenal Wedding Day indeed.

As a wedding photographer, we have the distinct honor to witness love. This happens all around us each day, but so much more profound on a Wedding Day.  What is also interesting are the mix of people. I know that there are two degrees of separation in Omaha and even though you may not know everyone, someone knows someone who happens to be in our own circle of friends or families.

So even though the ceremonial pageantry made for a phenomenal Wedding Day, we hopped on the bus where the bubbly flowed and the real characters emerged. One of the stops, I had never been to or heard of before, was an old bar called the Poop Deck.  It was a chance for the group to meet up with guests who apparently, happened to be there. After a few group shots, we all went to the famous Anthony’s for a most decorated and rich feel thanks to Jo, the mother of the bride and a true professional designer.

If you know someone who will be getting married in the near future and would like to discuss wedding photography, please contact us for an opportunity to discuss your Phenomenal Wedding Day.

Kellyn and Grant bring kicks on route 66

Kellyn and Grant married their best friends and bring kicks on route 66 for their Wedding Day. I have had the honor to record memories for multiple couples at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church recently. That old world feel hits me right away as I walk the steps up thru the front doors and look up to Cathedral ceilings and the ornate stained glass. The smell of timelessness is everywhere. Kellyn and Grant tell me of all must have pictures today they must have pictures with their classic chucks somewhere between our ceremony and reception.

Without hesitation, we, the wedding party and families hit it off immediately, making that connection that turns into a stint on the party bus and soon I felt as if I was one of the wedding party. I just forgot my kicks on route 66. They had theirs and that was fine. We may have stopped at five or so locations along our way on route 66 and had a blast. I love these people.

I have shared some of my favorite images of the wedding day but as usual their were hundreds that I would like to include. Much of my style is as a fly on the wall. I try not to make people give me what I want to see but wait and look for the moments that cannot be duplicated. Priceless memories that Kellyn and Grant will have to share with their children and children’s children.

The police handcuff our groom just as the wedding day begins

Oh yeah, while spending a day of their lives in a visit to Omaha for their wedding day,  police handcuff our groom on his wedding day in the middle of downtown. Yes indeed, Erin and Eric, the most beautiful and handsome bride and groom are so much in love, married and getting to make memories. In our downtown Old Market, there is never a dull moment. Who ever said being an Omaha photographer involved the sameness on a wedding day was completely wrong. Everything changes from second to second which makes for an ongoing adrenaline rush.

The day was perfectly planned and executed by the famed Kelli Recic, wedding planner with Nebraska Weddings Unveiled. From the rehearsal thru the end of their Reception, there was color and romance seen in every detail. Eric and Erin were pampered and Kelli’s presence was spot on in every detail. From the Hilton to St Margaret Mary’s to Scoular Ballroom, my assistand and I were never left with a dull moment.

It is so much fun to have the reveal prior to the wedding. It has a calming effect and the emotions translate onto their photography by allowing the story to unveil.

If you are looking for adventure and fun on your Wedding Day, please visit our website and if you like what you see, please be sure and talk to us about a custom Wedding Day package for your memories.

Elaine and Alex share love at the Holland with cultured weddings theme

Elaine and Alex fell  in love and designed their wedding day with a cultured weddings theme. The east meets the west is more than just a party. It is a culture of family coming together from China, Canada, British Columbia and places near and far within the United States. The cultured weddings are so amazing as diversity is welcomed and warmly shared between families.

I think of this as a miracle when two people coming from thousands of miles apart, whose paths would cross in Nebraska,  and then fall in love. What a better place to design a cultured weddings theme than in Omaha Nebraska.

It being a warm summer day, guests were encouraged to enjoy a cocktail hour outside on the patio while the reception room was transformed into a rich semi formal piece of art.

Their wedding day as an intimate gathering at the Holland Performing Arts  Center featured their closest of friends, a tree branch for guests and family to sign, an elegant ceremony, plated meals with colorful cupcakes for a light and delicious dessert. Dancing was light with an array of emotions shared.

Check out some of Elaine and Alex’s wedding images. If you know of someone who is recently engaged and planning a Wedding, we would be honored if you would share A Better Exposure, www.abetterexposure.com, contact us anytime to learn about how we will adapt to make their Event one of a kind.

Storybook Wedding at the Durham with Loren and Anna

I so much enjoyed meeting Loren and Anna and documenting their Storybook Wedding at the Durham. It is so important to hear their story, visually,  while soaking in the culture that they brought in planning their Sunday Wedding.  With Loren and Anna who very much appreciate the arts and urban lifestyle,  spending time at their  wedding resembled so much of what they love in their travels together. This was one of my favorite weddings.

They are so very quiet, intimate and kind with each other, that a more documentary, storybook approach to their photography drew me into their circle along with their families and guests. Loren and his family have a great sense of humor that I found myself quickly connecting with.  Anna and her family share a love for intimate conversations and a very fond appreciation of their community.

I wonder sometimes if people who haven’t been to Omaha and are coming in from the east coast don’t happen to imagine that they will soon be greeted by cowboys herding cattle up Dodge Street.

Trying to find something  familiar to their home in Arlington, Virginia, rich in culture and history, they landed at the  Downtown Deco with families and found a bit of Omaha’s enriching culture. It is such a different and relaxed feel to document someone’s wedding on a Sunday than on any other day of the week. For some of us, Sunday is the end of the week. For others, it is the first. This was a first for Loren and Anna and their families in many ways. Congratulations to our newlyweds.

Hannah and Michael Engaged

Hannah and Michael are Engaged. I am tongue tied and grateful with excitement in getting to spend a Sunday afternoon with this very happy couple. We were scheduled to make their Engagement Photography a special event. I couldn’t say anything but yes to photographing them all over Omaha and yes, four hours later we were hugging and wanting to do more.   I think I have fallen in love all over again and really, really can’t contain myself for their wedding in January.

We fortunately were able to spend time at the Joslyn Art Museum in what will be a completely different look outside. We hope for a little snow to add to this romantic story.

Being engaged is so fresh and getting to know our couples in front of the camera and before their wedding day, the honest, raw emotions are so intriguing to watch and record. To share some of these is an honor also.

Hannah and Michael are both from out of town and have that friendly, Nebraska personality that are so familiar in the farming communities. Both are working toward their degrees here in Omaha and look forward to be in the medical and legal field.

If you are engaged or know of someone who is recently engaged and like our work, I would be honored if you would share our body of work. We are open to discussing and creating a package that is unique and fits your life style and interests.
